LHCB will dedicate its new staff housing project Sunday, May 25th. Staff, village leaders and government dignitaries will all be in attendance. The executive director of LHCB-USA, Terrance Dinovo, will also attend. The eleven apartments, located on the hospital grounds, will enable medical staff to serve patients more efficiently and will help in the recruitment of quality doctors and their families.
The significance of the apartments was driven home the other week when Dr. Subrata, head doctor, left the hospital at 10:30 in the evening and was heading home when a speeding vehicle collided with the rickshaw he was traveling in. He suffered a concussion, but has since fully recovered.
The new facility will be known as the Samaritan Home, after the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10. LHCB-USA will recognize the occasion with a plague honoring Dr. "Bud" Peterson and Warren Gerecke, former president and executive director of the organization. Mission Bangladesh! of Normandale Lutheran Church will also send a plague recognizing the event.
Construction began on the project in November of 2006, with a budget of $180,000.
